The Brewing Fundamentals and Intermediate course includes both foundation and intermediate levels.

Learn the practical skills you need behind the espresso bar through this hands-on course. You'll learn:

  • Variety of brewing methods
  • Brewing variables that affect quality
  • Grind profiles
  • Measuring coffee strength
  • Charting a coffee's extraction

Sessions 9 AM - 4 PM

Foundation Level (Day 1) The Foundation level provides a first taste of a specific coffee discipline and is a great way to get insight into a module to help you decide if you want to go on to learn more.

Intermediate Level (Days 2 and 3) The Intermediate level is suitable if you are already part of the industry, working in the field covered by the module, and have a firm knowledge of the basic skills. Experience working in the field is recommended for this level.

Testing: All testing will take place after 4 pm at the end of class. Testing is recommended for those who have 3-6 month experience as a barista.

Klatch Coffee Roastery & Training Lab is an SCA Certified Campus and all SCA courses are taught by ASTs (Certified Trainers). Learn more about accreditation.
