We are always looking for ways to find the best coffee possible while supporting farmers with sustainable prices that allow them to grow, harvest and process the best coffee they can. Our incentive to the farmers was a three-tiered pricing structure based on cupping scores and 3.6 million pesos for the top three winners of our Roasters United Competition.

This year, along with two roasting friends, Chuck of Birdrock Coffee Roasters and Jeff of Portola Coffee Lab, we hosted the second (annual) Roasters United Contest in Huila, Colombia. The winners are: 1st place: Olmedo Rodríguez, Finca La Bandera, 2nd place: Pedro Nel Trujillo, Finca El Jardín, 3rd place: Eugenio Sarria, Finca Chirimoyo.

This specific blend is a combination of the 1st place - Olmedo Rodriguez and 3rd place - Eugene Sarria. Each cup offered a dynamic flavor profile that became more evident in the cup after the blending process. The cup brings out a beautiful fusion of sweet milk chocolate, almonds and hints of kiwi and lime. Along with an interesting Asian pear undertone, this is a very balanced cup that anyone can enjoy all day long!

Finally, a gourmet "blend" August 28, 2014
Reviewer: Travis Hill from Boise, ID United States
"Blends" are usually to be avoided (by me, anyway), as they typically take the lower-end beans, the leftovers, etc., and are combined together.

The RUCB beans might be a blend, but Klatch has seemingly taken the top tier beans and combined them into this unique, VERY flavorful offering. Alone, the RUCB is fantastic, and has no bitterness, no strong (and somewhat unpleasant) aftertaste, and the price is very misleading.

Sometimes the less expensive coffees are just not that great. This is not one of those coffees. It' another one where you shouldn't let the low price fool you.

Also, this blends very nicely with Panamanian Elida and Ethiopian Wote if you want to experience newer, custom flavors on your own.
