Finca Retiro de Quisayal has once again graced us with a impressive quality presences. This Bourbon varietal has rich flavors and a delectable roundness. The forest soils of the San Martin Jilotepeque region create a great coffee with good depth and notes of sweet orange and chocolate in the cup.
Retiro de Quisyal is a 65 hectare farm located in Chimaltenango department of Guatemala, covered with shade, and located within a forest. Harvested during the months of January, February and March. Cherries are not picked until fully ripped, then taken to Beneficio Bello Vista to be traditionally washed and sun-dried. Bell Vista has been processing Retiro coffee for over 15 years.
Farmer Juan Luis Barrios Ortega manages the entire farm with his family. While coffee is the main crop, Juan Luis manages the forest with an impressive 20 year sustainability plan. In addition, Señor Ortega has a nursery for all varietals of plants and trees and produces countless fruit trees across his land.
