Aceh Gold features refined earthy tones that transcends into a berry, orange flavored coffee. Along with a light "syrupy" mouthfeel, it also provides elements of rich tart and a well-integrated citrus aftertaste. Overall, this awesome new crop offers full body while the sweet and bright fruit notes linger into a long, resonant finish.

This new (2013) crop comes from the growing region of Lintong in Northern Sumatra near the shores of Lake Toba. This is a sun-dried and triple-picked type of coffee. It features a grade 1 quality preparation along with a heavy body; a well known characteristic of the region. Another factor would be the great acidity along with loads of clean and rich tobacco flavor, providing a long lingering finish. Aceh Gold is easily one the cleanest and most meticulously prepared Sumatras you will find.

As mentioned before, Aceh Gold produced in the Lintong area, however it is one of several projects that La Minita is involved with outside of their estate. La Minita is famous for their coffee estate in Costa Rica. Under William McAlpin, La Minita pioneered the concept of single-estate coffees some 20 years ago. Today, they produce some of Central America’s most celebrated coffees.

La Minita partnering with Volkopi for the last 10 years, La Minita has received and continues to receive a year-round supply of fresh coffee because of Sumatra’s year-round harvest season. La Minita, one of only two U.S. importers that Volkopi supplies, visits Sumatra at least once a year to maintain relationships and coffee quality.
